Recent Thrift Finds

Haven’t been thrifting quite as much recently. But picked up these things a couple of weeks ago. Spring feels!

A floral mug that I’ll add to a Spring mug collection. This was either 25 or 50 cents.

A ceramic flower thing. Maybe a soap dish. Would be cute as such for my girl. Might also use as a jewelry dish for my girl. I think this was $1, maybe less.

A framed print of the Eiffel Tower. The print is lovely, but I bought this for the nice wood and glass frame and pretty pink mat. It was $2.

A real unique (at least I think so) and real thick glass bud vase. I just liked it. My dad collected bottles, so I kind of get it honest. 🥰 This was $1.

A large iridescent pink vase. This isn’t vintage. But as soon as I saw it, I thought ZINNIAS! (with exclamation and everything). I might’ve mentioned it before, but when I see inexpensive vases, I’ve been grabbing them so that I can gift a bouquet of homegrown flowers (likely zinnias) in something fun! This was $2.

This makes me smile.

She missed co-op yesterday because of a sore throat, but we brought her home all the activities. She got busy on this one yesterday evening.

Feeling the urge to empty all my kitchen cabinets and purge things and rearrange.

Made applesauce muffins allllll on their own today. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Two children in aprons are standing in a kitchen, with one on a step stool, preparing food together.

Something little that makes me happy: tiny bowls to soak nasturtium seeds that match the color of each variety. 😍

Didn’t have matching plates to keep them dark. But it’s still fun to see all the color sitting on the counter.

Packets of nasturtium seeds are arranged above three colorful bowls containing some of the nasturtium seeds soaking in water

Mourning not getting to spend the day outside because even inside I’ve sneezed probably 70 times.

Atchafalaya Basin Swamp Tour

My cousin and her family came to visit us the past few days. So, we decided to do a swamp tour on the Atchafalaya Basin.

We chose McGee’s for several reasons: 1) We’ve heard good things. 2) My husband and I have been on a few swamp tours on a lake near our house, but have never done one in the Atchafalaya. So going somewhere new sounded good. 3) Their tour boats have taller sides than other boats we’ve been on, so it felt like a good choice for our kids’ first boat experience. 4) It’s only 15-ish minutes from our house!

We ended up having a(n unexpected) private tour on a really beautiful day!

I could’ve stayed on the boat all day. It’s so relaxing and the swamp is a different kind of beautiful, even in winter.

Of course, viewing wildlife was a highlight. We saw a mama and baby great horned owls, ospreys, and some gators (still a little chilly for a plethora of gators).

And we left with some fun souvenirs!

Then, we drove to Poche’s in Breaux Bridge for a yummy lunch.
